Arthur Duprey

Arthur Duprey, age 86, of Rumford, RI, formerly of Seekonk, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce A. (Coomes) Duprey and the companion of Joan Pierce.


Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Marcel W. and Vande (Bigda) Duprey.


Arthur served his country proudly in the United States Marines.


He served as a department supervisor at Teknor Apex for many years before his well-deserved retirement. Simultaneously, he worked as a Postman in Norton, MA, showcasing his strong work ethic and reliability. In his later years, Arthur found fulfillment in assisting Tree Surgeon with their jobs and helping park cars at Jack Witchi's Flea Market on Sundays.


Outside of work, Arthur indulged in hobbies that brought him joy. He found excitement in going to horse races and casinos. Additionally, he devoted himself to tending to his flower and vegetable gardens.


Arthur had a deep love for dogs. Throughout his life, he opened his heart to many furry companions, including those with special needs. 


Besides his companion Joan, he leaves his two daughters, Sandra Spavold and her husband John of Pascoag, RI and Monica Lee Yidiaris and her husband Chris Jon Ducey of Cumberland, RI; his grandchildren, Ryan Spavold, Danielle Spavold and Miranda Lee Yidiaris; a great grandson, Hunter Thomas Yidiaris; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings; Wilfred Duprey and his wife Mary, Lorraine Romanow and her husband Mickey, Marion and her husband Kenneth Boyer, and Albert Duprey.


To honor the wishes of his family, funeral services will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to: Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
