Braden Andrew Chittick, affectionately known as Drew, passed away on October 30, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island.
Born on June 26, 1999, in Champaign, Illinois, Drew’s vibrant spirit and caring nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Drew earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Evansville, with a semester at Harlaxton University in Grantham, England. A graduate of Paris High School in Paris, Illinois, he was actively involved in scholastic bowl, band, choir, and drama where he nurtured lifelong friendships and cherished memories. While in Providence, Drew worked for City Year and, most recently, Teach for America, where he inspired students and advocated for meaningful change. Drew was also pursuing a master’s degree at Rhode Island College.
Drew was a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, an avid reader, and a lover of trivia. Drew found peace in the great outdoors, delighting in canoeing and camping adventures that allowed him to connect with nature and friends.
Drew is survived by his loving parents, John Chittick and Kristin Johnson Chittick; his siblings Allana Chittick (Ian Adderley), Nic Chittick (Haley Willis Chittick), nephew Kendrick Adderley, Grandmother Linda Chittick and many adored aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind a community of devoted friends.
Drew’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, a gentle reminder of the beautiful person he was. He will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
In honor of Drew, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm EST, in the Garden Reception Room at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, in Providence, Rhode Island ( as you enter the main gate of the cemetery, please turn left and the Garden Reception Room will be on your right. It is near the cemetery administration office)
Following the memorial in Providence, services celebrating Drew's life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. CST on November 16th, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on the 16th, at the Templeton Funeral Home.
