Bridget M. Majkut, 101, of Fall River died peacefully Thursday morning May 22, 2025 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. Born on December 5, 1923 in Fall River she was a daughter of the late Michael and Zofia “Sophie” (Felag) Wawrow, both of whom emigrated from Poland. She was a proud lifelong resident of Fall River. Bridget was the wife of the late Franciszek “Frank” Peter Majkut. They were married on November 22, 1958 at St. Stanislaus Church on Rockland Street, sharing over 20 years together until his passing in July of 1979.
In her earlier years Bridget worked in the local textile industry at several area mills including Shelburne Shirt Company and Abdon Textiles. She also worked as a waitress at the venerable and historic Quequechan Club, the “Q Club “on North Main Street in Fall River.
Bridget was a longtime communicant of St. Stanislaus Parish and in recent years attended Holy Family Parish in East Taunton while staying with her daughter. Bridget was very proud of her Polish heritage.
Bridget had a green thumb as every year she tended to her beautiful garden. She liked to walk all around her home city of Fall River and the immediate area. She would also “try her luck” at area casinos just for fun.
Bridget will be remembered for her happy and cheerful outlook on life. She always saw the good in others and loved to sing and dance. At her 99th, 100th and 101st birthday parties at Sarah Brayton she was the life of the party as she regaled her guests with her excitement and enthusiasm for the gift of each and every day.
Bridget is survived by her daughter Stella A. DeSantis of East Taunton and her son Alexander Majkut of Fall River. She was the sister of the late Alexander Wawrow, Joseph Wawrow, Rev. Mr. William Wawrow, OFM (Friar Bede, OFM, who died while he was in the seminary), Stephen Wawrow, Stella Wawrow, Mary Sagan, Anna Caron and Josephine Vieira. Bridget is also survived by her extended family of many nieces and nephews and their families.
Stella and Alexander are grateful to all of the caregivers at Sarah Brayton who provided their mother with her daily care for the past several years she resided at the center.
Everyone is invited to gather to honor, remember and pray for Bridget at her funeral Saturday May 31, 2025 from the Sowiecki-Snyder Funeral Home 69 West Britannia St. Taunton, with visiting hours from 9:00-11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Holy Family Church 372 Middleboro Ave. in East Taunton. Bridget will be laid to rest at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. In memory of Bridget her parting instructions to all are to please say your prayers, love those around you and do good deeds for others.
