Jeanne M. Kirkwood

November 9, 1950 — September 5, 2025

Jeanne Marie (Hanna) Kirkwood 11/9/1950 of Taunton, Massachusetts, beloved wife of Ward G. Kirkwood and mother of Ian Andrew Kirkwood passed away peacefully at home with her husband, son, and cat after a prolonged illness on 9/5/25.

She was predeceased by her sister Karen Lee Hanna, her parents Francis (Flip) Hanna and Helen (Adlesich) Hanna. Jeanne is survived by her husband Ward Kirkwood and her sons Ian Andrew Kirkwood also of Taunton, Timothy Kirkwood his wife Melissa and grandchildren Bryce, Molly and Ellie of Barrington, RI. Daughter Juli Kirkwood Giacalone Her Husband Joseph (Joey) Giacalone of San Diego, CA. Sister Rebecca (Hanna) Quigg of Atlanta, Georgia and nephews Jonathan Robert Quigg of Denver, Colorado and Gregory Ryan Quigg also of Atlanta.

Jeanne was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, graduated from Penn Hills High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a degree in education. After teaching kindergarten in Newport PA, she relocated for a position at Liberty Mutual in Boston, Massachusetts. “You can take the girl out of Pittsburgh, but you can’t take Pittsburgh out of the girl.” Jeanne attended Suffolk University Law School where she obtained her Juris Doctor. After graduation she practiced law in Easton Massachusetts for 45 years while also returning to her true love of teaching as a law professor at Stonehill College teaching business law and healthcare law where she was beloved by her students.

Mrs. Kirkwood loved reading and had an extensive library of novels. She loved cooking, going out to restaurants, the New England Patriots and her cat. She had a heart of gold. She would be the first person to listen to those who needed to share and to extend a helping hand to those in need. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Jeanne attended West Congregational church where she also served as a deacon.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit with Jeanne’s family on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with a Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 am, at Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Services, 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton. Burial will follow in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton, MA.
