Joseph P. Gomes Sr.

Joseph P. Gomes Sr, age 69, of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John P. Gomes, Sr. and Frances (Pina) Gomes.

He worked as a school bus driver for thirty years, transporting children with special needs.

Joe was a devoted father and grandfather and spending time with his family and those he loved was most important to him. 

He enjoyed playing slot machines, having cookouts, listening to music, and watching old movies with Madea being his all time favorite. 

Mr. Gomes leaves his three children, Joseph P. Gomes, Jr. of Dighton, Anthony Gomes of Taunton, and Chantel Gomes of Florida; a sister, Joanna Gomes of Taunton; five grandchildren, Chanelle Robinson, Kamryn Gomes, Anthony Gomes, Jr., Elijah Riveira, and Amara Mia Vazquez; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Domingo Gomes, John Gomes, and Juanita Gomes.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit Joseph’s family on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, at Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Services, 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton. Interment will be held at a later date.
