Rafael A. Rodriguez , age 88, of Taunton, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Ana Maria (Lima) Rodriguez.
Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Francisco and Hilda (Echevarria) Rodriguez.
He was retired for many years and was a licensed barber, an accomplished musician, was a member of many bands, and even made a few records.
Rafael will be remembered as a kind, generous, and funny person who was resourceful. He was known as the “unoffical Mayor” of 31 School Street. Everyone could attest that he was always there to lend help to anyone. Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed repairing watches, playing the drums, going to the Raynham Flea Market every Sunday and would often walk.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Nancy Amin of Taunton, Ralph Rodriguez Jr, of Marco Island, FL, Richard Rodriguez of Taunton, and Jason Rodriguez of Taunton; two brothers, Miguel Rodriguez, and David Rodriguez; three sisters, Norma Ojeda, Noemi Dessis, and Felcidad Kelley; sixteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, whom he was very close to. He was the father of the late Frank Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, and Myra Kontakos, and was preceded in death by six siblings.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to Rafael’s Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 4th, from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm, in the community room at 31 School Street Apartments in Taunton.
Parking is available at the parking garage directly across the street.
