Robert P. Delaney, age 66, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Lariscy) Delaney. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son Robert “Bobby” Delaney Jr and also his brother Michael Delaney. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Delaney Vayo who he affectionately referred to as “The Boss” and her husband John of Assonet; Daughter-in-law Stephanie Holland, brother Charles Delaney of Plymouth and Godson Michael Delaney and his two former wives, Judi Sbardella Mirka and Sue Donovan Delaney
Bob was the proud “PUP” to his grandsons Shane Robert and Patrick Americo Delaney. They were his pride and joy and cherished cheering them on from the sidelines along with daily check ins. He was a family man that never missed a family gathering and was always available for a lunch date.
The world lost one of its great characters in Bob. An enthusiastic connoisseur of the adult beverage, telling “Pup Fiction” stories, his lawn and country music. Bob could be found most days holding court in the backyard, where everyone was welcome to pull up a chair, grab a drink and enjoy the kind of conversation that could solve the world’s problems or at least help forget about them for a while.
Bob worked at Stop & Shop for many years with the Teamsters Local 25. After retirement, he worked at Home Depot.
Bob’s Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11 am, in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St, Mansfield, MA. Following in true Bob fashion, friends and family are invited to Bob's residence in Norton to honor him the way he’d want by raising a glass by the fire, telling a good story and checking if the grass could use a little trim.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Services.
