Scott Szczepkowski, 44, of East Freetown, MA, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2025.
Scott, like the town where he was born - Assonet, Massachusetts - moved through many evolutions in life. His most recent, and perhaps most brilliant, was the role of a wise and devoted uncle. Though he never had children of his own, he had a natural gift with them, as his niece Izzy can attest.
Earlier in life, Scott shined on the baseball field. His raw talent and athletic ability were unmistakable to anyone who saw him play. Yet as serious as he was in athletics, his true gift was a heart of gentleness and kindness. It was this quality, his humor, patience, and unique way of explaining the world that everyone who knew him gravitated toward.
Scott was a gifted storyteller. With his laughter, perspective and unique wit, gave him the ability to spin a tale from even the smallest moment, he had a way of connecting deeply with those around him. His stories, and the joy and warmth he carried with them, and laughter he derived through them will be forever missed but never forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to hear them.
He leaves behind his beloved parents, Julie (Gleeson) and Walter “Wally” Szczepkowski of Lakeville, MA; his brother Eric and wife Danielle; and his cherished niece Isabella (Izzy), who will grow up surrounded by his memory and the stories that defined his spirit, though never quite in the way only Scott could tell them. In addition to his loving family, he leaves his beloved pug, Donnie.
Forever in our hearts.
To honor the wishes of his family, all funeral services will be privately held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Services.
