Anna I. Bednarz

March 9, 1918 — January 11, 2018

Anna I. Bednarz (Jacques) 99, of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Morton Hospital, just one month shy of her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Victor S. Bednarz.

Born in Taunton, she was a daughter of the late Kostan and Mary (Palus) Jacques, who lived to be 100 years old.

She graduated from Taunton High School and attended art school in Boston, MA and Providence, RI. Anna lived a good catholic life, she was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church and attended mass on a weekly basis and assisted at the annual Polish Picnic. She also spoke Polish fluently.

Anna worked as a packer and wrapper at Reed & Barton for 15 years, before retiring.

Mrs. Bednarz was a very creative and artistic person. She could make something useful out of something that ordinarily seemed useless. As an example, her daughter Barbara liked to tell the story of how she gave her mother a pleated skirt that she did not want, because she thought it made her look fat. Anna took the skirt and cut it into strips and incorporated it into a braided rug, in which she gave to her daughter who enjoyed walking on the rug that contained her old skirt. Anna was an avid painter, enjoyed sewing, ceramic pottery, and making braided rugs. She also loved traveling; and had traveled with her daughter Barbara and son James, extensively throughout Europe and drove cross country to San Francisco, California. Mrs. Bednarz loved children and family was most important to her. She had a good heart and was always willing to help people.

She leaves her daughter, Barbara A. Folcik, of Raynham; four grandchildren, Steven, Amy, Katie, and Sonya; and several great grandchildren. Anna was the mother of the late Paul Bednarz, Victor Bednarz, Jr., and James Bednarz; sister of the late, Janna Morris, John and George Jacques, and mother in law of the late Joseph Folcik.

Her funeral with visitation will begin on Saturday , January 20, 2018 at 9:45 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, in the SOWIECKI FUNERAL HOME , 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. For directions and online condolences, please visit: www.sowieckifh.com
