Daniel de Pina da Rosa

March 12, 1937 — February 26, 2022

Daniel de Pina da Rosa , age 84, of Taunton, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.

Son of late Francisco da Rosa and Idalina de Pina Cardoso (Nhá nhá), Daniel de Pina da Rosa, was born on 03.12.1937, in Sao Filipe, Fogo island - Cape Verde.

Daniel was a simple, intelligent, and cultured man, who was enlightened and well-informed. He believed in the great value of education, so he never stopped encouraging his children, grandchildren or other people in his close relationship in this regard. A lifelong learner, he was always taking notes in his notebook. He'd never miss a chance to jot down a new word and expand his vocabulary even in a foreign language. More than the word, he'd also write down the pronunciation as he heard it so he could practice, and at the first opportunity, implement it and use it in conversations. Daniel loved to take long walks, study maps, and listen to traditional music.

He worked as a shoe maker and cobbler for most of his life. His work ethic and upright conduct attacked many who became faithful clients of his services.

His great respect for God was evident from an early age. He became a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church of Taunton in October 2020. A week from now, Daniel would be 85 years old, (03.12.2022).

He was, in fact, an excellent father, grandfather, friend, father-in-law, great and outspoken adviser, especially in the most difficult times. It's hard to believe that a person like this is no longer among us! Daniel was admitted into urgent care on February 7th and was then sent to Brigham and Women's Hospital, in Boston, where, on Saturday the 26th, he died, around 7:45 am to miss us all immensely. With our eyes fixed on our great hope, we look forward to the morning of the resurrection, which will not delay or fail, and when we shall see Daniel again!

Mr. da Rosa leaves his children, Francisco Barros da Rosa (Chiquinho); Danielson Barros da Rosa (Danielson); Manuel Barros da Rosa (Nené); Napoleão da Rosa (Todé); Salomão da Rosa (Tutu); Yolanda de J. da Rosa Rodrigues (Yolanda); Maria da Rosa (Tizuka) and Luís da Rosa (Da Rosa), leaving around 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit with Daniel's family on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am, in the Taunton Cape Verdean SDA Church, 51 Railroad Avenue, Taunton, MA. Interment will be private.
