Obituary

Luis Ivan Ortiz Maldonado, age 55, of Raynham, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Morton Hospital after battling ALS for the past six years.

Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Julio Ortiz and Maria Maldonado.

He worked as a machine operator with Preferred Freezers in Avon for 6 years.

Luis enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, softball, and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Myra Ortiz, Jorge Ortiz, Jonathan Ortiz, Deven Ortiz, Derek Ortiz, Maria Ortiz, ConfesorCartagena and Luis Cartagena; his siblings, Julio Ortiz, Wanda Ortiz, Nixon Ortiz, Wilberto Ortiz, Hector Ortiz, and Pedro Ortiz; grandchildren, Jayda Yera, Jonathan Ortiz, Julian Ortiz, Jaylee Cartagena. Jordyn Ortiz, Jizzelleigh Ortiz, Jowell Ortiz, Jaymani Ortiz, Luis Cartagena Jr., Izaiah Ortiz, Novalise Ortiz, Aaliyah Cartagena, Naiely Ortiz, Jaliena-Rose Ortiz, and Liyanie Ortiz. Luis was the brother of the late Nilsa Ortiz.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Luis’ family on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals, 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, at 10:00 am, at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Raynham.
