Menta Irene (Nickerson) West
March 10, 1960 ~ June 10, 2023 (age 63) 63 Years Old
Menta Irene West (Nickerson) age 63, of Taunton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Morton Hospital.
Born and raised in Norton, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell and Mary (Jacobs) Nickerson.
Menta graduated from Norton High School and previously lived in Taunton, Raynham, and Middleboro before making her home back in Taunton.
She worked as a CNA for several years and worked as a hairdresser.
Menta believed in mother earth and its beauty. She truly loved Mother Earth and all its creatures. From gardening and having a green thumb to hummingbirds and blue jays. Menta was truly one with earth and its life as a whole and loved walking on the beach and searching for seashells with her children and grandchildren. Ms. West was truly about living life to the fullest and enjoying every day. She enjoyed long rides on the back of the Harley and feeling the wind hitting her face. In her later years she would donate her time at her local food pantry and give back.
Some of her other interests include having a good time, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren outside enjoying the sunny days. On any given Sunday Menta was getting ready for the Patriot’s Game where she enjoyed making food with country music playing in the background. Menta also enjoyed swimming in the water along with fishing with her kids and taking care of plants.
She is survived by four children, Jamie Fleck of Gloucester, MA, Joshua Galavotti of Stoughton, Jaclyn Amelia Galavotti of Fall River, MA, and Julia Phelps of Raynham, MA; two sisters, Tina Suxo of Brockton and Mary Sabin of Texas; and her nine loving grandchildren. Menta was the sister of the late Denise Ryan.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm, in the Italian Social Club, 2 Columbus Boulevard, Taunton.
