Taylor C Weir “Smokey”, 31, of Barnstable, tragically passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 after a courageous battle with COVID-19. Born and raised in Barnstable, Massachusetts, he was the son of Adrienne R Weir, also of Barnstable.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved children; Jaxson and Shayla. His brothers, Jon, Anthony, and Xavier. Taylor also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Christine and Jack Carter of Florida and George Weir of Massachusetts. Also his three maternal aunts: Robin, Abby, and Victoria. He is predeceased by his loving Uncle Mattie who played a huge part in his upbringing. Taylor was fortunate to enjoy the company of his dog, best friend and confidant of 16 years, Fatty. He had a vast multitude of close family members and friends from all over the country, which allowed him to create a unique extended family of his own.
Growing up, Taylor loved skateboarding, paintballing, killing zombies in video games, collecting comics, bowling and “Star Wars”. He enjoyed family vacations, weekend getaways, had a fondness for sports and spent many years playing baseball and football. He spent time perfecting his skills with each interest and encouraged his family and friends to join him. His natural love of learning was evident in everything he did. He was educated in Barnstable and later attended Cape Cod Community College where he studied technology and computer science. During any downtime, Taylor was often found spending time with his large family, including his many cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Affectionately known as “Smokey”, he enjoyed attending music concerts with his friends, traveling to festivals of all sorts, playing disc golf and many other outdoor activities.
Taylor’s need for speed followed him throughout his life and it led him to his beloved Suzuki Hayabusa. His “Busa” was equipped with a gsxr tail frame and stretched swing arm…1300 with a 1000 sub frame made a nice weight reduction and the swing arm gave it that track. Smoke's ride was no joke! If he wasn’t seen on the road on his ‘Busa, he could be found at the trails on his dirt bike.
When he wasn't out in the world, he would be content at home creating coasters from his favorite brews, playing Magic: The Gathering, cooking and spending time with his mom and other family. A beer enthusiast, Taylor always enjoyed a nice, cold stout; especially ones made by his own friends at their breweries. He also appreciated a superb whiskey, aged and fermented just right. He enjoyed consuming, trading and searching out a missed release. An experienced cannabis connoisseur, “Smokey” relished in the marijuana community whether it was a joint, blunt, bong, pipe, dabs, hash, kief, edibles, or gourmet infused cuisine. It was no secret how big of a foodie “Smokey” was; his favorites being ramen, pho, sushi, wagyu and charcuterie. His love for uncommon foods started at a young age during his many outings with his Uncle Mattie. He took those memories and fused them into his life by preparing food for many gatherings with friends.
Although he was only 31 years old, Taylor loved life and lived it to the fullest. As we all cry, weep and shed our tears from this crushing loss, we will still toast our beers, sip our whiskey, take a dab and spark a blunt for you “Smokey”.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined soon. Updates will be announced and published.
